Chelsea Edge Brighton 4-3 in Thrilling Pre-Season Friendly

Chelsea kicked off their pre-season campaign with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Brighton Hove Albion at the Lincoln. The Blues were in control for much of the match, but Brighton fought back valiantly in the second half to make it a tight contest.
Chelsea took the lead in the 10th minute through a Michy Batshuayi strike. The Belgian forward latched onto a through ball from Mateo Kovacic and fired past Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
The Blues doubled their lead in the 25th minute when Timo Werner scored from close range. The German striker was on hand to tap in a cross from Hakim Ziyech.
Brighton pulled one back in the 35th minute through a Neal Maupay penalty. The French forward was brought down in the box by Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, and he made no mistake from the spot.
Chelsea restored their two-goal lead in the 40th minute when Kai Havertz scored a stunning solo goal. The German midfielder dribbled past several Brighton defenders before firing into the top corner.
Brighton came out fighting in the second half and pulled another goal back in the 55th minute through a Danny Welbeck header. The English striker was left unmarked at the back post and nodded home a cross from Marc Cucurella.
Chelsea's lead was reduced to one goal in the 65th minute when Leandro Trossard scored a magnificent free-kick. The Belgian winger curled the ball into the top corner from 25 yards out.
However, Chelsea held on for the win and secured a morale-boosting victory ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester United on August 12.
