Boeing Crew Flight Test Boe-CFT: First Crewed Mission of Boeing Starliner

NASA and Boeing Ready for First Crewed Starliner Flight

Boeing Crew Flight Test (Boe-CFT) will mark a significant milestone in the development of the Boeing Starliner spacecraft, as it will be the first crewed mission for the vehicle.

Flight Readiness Objectives and Priorities

NASA leadership and Boeing officials have outlined the primary objectives and priorities for the Boe-CFT mission:

  • Validate the Starliner spacecraft's performance in space
  • Demonstrate the spacecraft's ability to safely transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station
  • Assess the overall safety and reliability of the Starliner system

About the Boeing Starliner

The Boeing Starliner is a partially reusable spacecraft designed to transport up to four astronauts to and from the International Space Station. It is part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program, which aims to develop and certify commercial spacecraft for transporting astronauts to and from low Earth orbit.

The Starliner spacecraft consists of a crew module, service module, and launch abort system. The crew module provides accommodations for the astronauts during the journey to and from the space station, while the service module houses the spacecraft's propulsion, power, and communication systems. The launch abort system is designed to separate the crew module from the rest of the spacecraft in the event of an emergency during launch.
